Poverty in Afghanistan: Hopes crushed by conflict and chaos

Nearly half of Afghanistan’s population is suffering from hunger on a daily basis, according to the United Nations.

Decades of war and rampant corruption have crippled the economy and a recent wave of targeted killings as well as the coronavirus pandemic has added to the misery of Afghans.
